Knobcon 2017 was full of surprises. One that stands out is the VCV open source virtual eurorack modular daw system. I had a good chance to chat with VCV’s developer / maker, Andrew Belt. Click the image above for a look at the system in our exclusive live stream from Knobcon 2017.
More about VCV below
VCV Rack is an open-source virtual Eurorack DAW (Mac/Windows/Linux) for creating complete modular synthesizer compositions or for extending your existing Eurorack system. Build patches with your mouse by dragging cables, perform with your MIDI controller, or connect Rack to other DAWs using the VCV Bridge VST/AU plugin (coming soon). Audio signals, control voltage, and clocks can all be patched together, so you can modulate parameters with sonic-range VCOs to create customizable FM synths or chaotic wave-shaping oscillators.
The beta release is available as a free download at https://vcvrack.com/ with 25+ modules, including original designs in collaboration with Grayscale and ports of modules by Mutable Instruments, Befaco, and Synthesis Technology.
