Corry BanksPerhaps one of the most recognizable diss songs ever, “The Bridge Is Over” by Boogie Down Productions (BDP) is a classic indeed. This record dropped in 1987 and appeared on BDP’s classic album Criminal Minded. Led by KRS-ONE, BDP burst onto the scene at a time when hiphop was metamorphosizing into it’s golden era status. The Bridge Is Over was a huge diss song aimed at MC Shan (of Juice Crew fame) who made a song called “The Bridge.” These songs spawned, or at very least personified, the legendary rivalry between BDP and The Juice Crew.
