MPC-Samples.com Releases ‘The 60s Funk Kit’ Maschine Update

Sheffield, UK. 5th March 2014

Voted by BboyTechReport.com as one of the ‘Best drum kits of 2013’, MPC-samples.com are proud to announce that ‘The 60s Funk Kit’ from Pad Pimps and Tombongo has now been updated to be fully compatible with Native Instruments Maschine.

The 60s Funk Kit‘ is a multisampled vintage Gretsch drum kit authentically recorded to two inch tape to capture the warm, natural sound of a 60s drum session. There are 16 articulations in total, each recorded with 12 velocity layers in 24 bit/16 bit WAV and legacy MPC SND format, mapped out across MPC programs and Maschine groups, and fully compatible with all MPC models, all JJOS versions and Maschine 1.8 + 2.x.

The new Maschine groups feature two unique layouts; the first is based on the layout found in many Maschine Library drum kits (such as the Abbey Road series), while the second group features a fully optimised ‘finger drumming’ layout with efficient grouping of related articulations allowing for easier performance of snare rolls, funky ghost notes and complex hi hat patterns.

There’s also a new articulation – the ‘pandero snare’, which features a pandero tambourine skin-to-skin with the Black Beauty snare, giving a very unique and tight snare sound.

Recorded direct and raw with vintage microphones, through an Alice Stancoil 1970’s quadrophonic mixer and finally to a Studer two inch tape machine, the result is an incredibly realistic sounding live acoustic kit reminiscent of the classic funk drums played by legendary drummers such as Clyde Stubblefield, Jabo Starks, Zigaboo Modeliste and James Black.

Whether you sequence your beats or play them live, ‘The 60s Funk Kit’ has to be the go-to kit whenever you need that vintage drum sound.
