So, MPC Samples and BBoyTech have together released this incredibly dynamic multi-sampled Electric Piano kit. Each of the nearly 300 samples contained in this kit were meticulously sampled directly from my own expertly restored Vintage 1972 Fender Rhodes EP thru a vintage analog mix board and into the DAW. Each sample was taken to allow its natural resonant tone to dissipate into silence. There are no choppy loops and oddly extended samples here. This is literally like having my Vintage 73 EP in your groove box!
This particular Rhodes EP is the 2nd of two Rhodes that I purchased over the last two years. The first was a 1971 model. I took on the restoration of the first until I realized I could restore it nicely but an expert could restore it to its former glory not just cosmetically but most importantly in sound. So, I took both EPs to legendary Rhodes expert, Ken Rich of Ken Rich Sounds.
The result of this journey is now in a neatly wrapped package that was programmed specifically for Maschine and MPCs ranging from the latest MPC Ren and MPC Touch all the way back through the MPC range to the MPC 2000 and MPC 2000XL (yes that includes MPC 500 / 1000 / 2500 / 4000 / 5000).
There’s 292 samples in total all in standard WAV format along with a number of different programs precisely tailored for various samplers and operating systems.
The full chromatic 4-zone velocity switching instrument was made specifically for the MPC Software (.xpm), Maschine (.msnd), MPC4000 (.akp) and MPC5000 (.50k), with 4 completely unique samples on each and every pad providing incredible realism and velocity sensitive tonal variation for each note that you play.
MPC Renaissance, MPC Studio, MPC Element & MPC Touch users also get the instrument in MPC Software Expansion Pack (XPN) format for installation directly into the MPC Software Expansion Browser.
And for times when you’d need a smaller memory footprint we’ve created a number of programs that utilise reduced keygroups and/or less velocity zones, which still retain a very realistic variation in timbre while keeping memory footprint to a minimum (program sizes range from 33MB – 68MB). Perfect for the MPC2500, MPC1000, MPC500 and all versions of JJOS, and also available for lower memory usage in the MPC5000 and MPC4000.
We’ve even created a single velocity layer version for the MPC2000/XL which is still chromatically sampled ensuring each of the 64 notes has it’s own unique timbre while keeping memory usage under 23MB.
Additionally as all samples are provided individually in standard WAV format, you can import the samples into all popular software samplers and DAWs along with the provided AKP files for automatic mapping across a keyboard or controller (where supported).
Find out more about the included programs in the 17 page User Guide.
