If I was a betting man I’d say that Ms Hill may not have been ready to enter the stage when Black Thought introduced her but Erykah Badu saved the moment with an “anointing of the stage” as she put it. At any rate, Erykah Badu told the story of how she was introduced to J Dilla via Common and eventually they made history. Obviously she fills the story with much many more cool details that I am including here.
The video begins with Bilal and includes performances from Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu and ends with Jeremy Ellis (Maschine Mad Man) performing a rather impressive Maschine performance dedicated to the late great J Dilla.
