Joe Sample is another of the Fender Rhodes luminaries.  As a jazz and soul pianist Joe Sample has played with a long list of soul legends. It’s been said that “Since the early 1980s, he has enjoyed a successful solo career and has guested on many recordings by other performers and groups, including Miles Davis, George Benson, Jimmy Witherspoon, B. B. King, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, and The Supremes.”

Joe Sample’s band The Crusaders along with Randy Crawford gave us “Street Life” which has been remade and sampled by a many contemporary artists including Lil Wayne.

Joe Sample has probably been on your iPod’s playlists without your knowledge. Take for instance his song entitled “In All My Wildest Dreams” which was sampled for Dear Momma by Tupac. Or perhaps you’ve heard The Crusaders (with Joe Sample on keys) song entitled “Lilies of the Nile” sampled by Digable Planets on Escapism (Gettin’ Free).
