Savant is one such lyricist that is certainly worth a bit of your time in downloading and listening to his many projects. I’m sure you will find a few things that you dig. But this particular time around Savant brings a gang of emcees along for the ride.
Savant preps for the release of his “Initial Entry” mixtape with a heavy collabo entitled Iron Bars. Produced by J.Cardim, Iron Bars is a huge warning shot that is sure to get some attention. The cut includes Papoose, Justin Tyme, Savant aka Stanstro & the legendary Kool G Rap.
Opening with the words “Its the return of the best lyricist”, Iron Bars uses big ominous horn riffs as its bedrock perfectly paired with what feels like break beat drums. This is the lyricists song. All of the 4 emcees spit nicely to this hood anthem joint. It kind of makes you want to throw on a fresh pair of Timbos, a bubble goose coat and a skully and hang out in a cipher on a cold winter NY night.
If this is any indication of what Savant’s “Initial Entry” mixtape has to offer we may all be in for a treat.
